FWIW:
Bruins
Senators
New Jersey
Taking the Bruins because Boston and Washington have both been there before. It's ended pretty well for Boston; not so well for Washington. Feeding off that crowd at TD will be huge, and Tim Thomas 9-2 record in elimination games speaks for itself.
My Senators pick is a bit forced because I initially predicted Ottawa to grab game seven, but I still think Ottawa is a live 'dog here. They've already beaten New York twice in the series at MSG, and reports are surfacing that Ryan Callahan's hand is banged up from game six. Callahan's a gamer and will play regardless, but if he's not 100%, that's a huge piece of help for Ottawa.
Regarding Florida/New Jersey: You might as well flip a coin. New Jersey's looked superior in the series, but the Devils have been really inconsistent for stretches in this series. G6's shot differential was laughable, yet Florida still managed to force OT. Still, I'll roll with the frustrating team on the road in the Devils. |

Took NJ, I don't really know how they didn't end this in 5 or 6.

If Lundqvist wants to prove that he is a goalie that is elite at all times of the year he really needs to steal this one. You haven't been to the 2nd round since 07-08 time to step up and take that next step. Wouldn't hurt either to see Gaborik to step up as he is in the same boat as Lunqvist maybe even more so.
WSH-BOS
Peverley
Rolston
Chara
Ference
Kelly
Siedenberg
There is only one name that should be in the last. Yes Krecji is tied and so is Lucic, but the fact remains that this list is what TSN shows for the top 6 point getters in Boston. Seguin, Bergeron, Marchand along with Lucic and Krecji need to step up and finish this series.

i get the gaborik comment because he hasn't been that good in this sereis. However if you really think that this series is lundqvist fault for being tied at 3 then you have not a clue as to what he has been doing.
his .942 save percentage and 1.92 goals against average is more than adequate. |

I'm not blaming Lundqvist for anything just saying he needs to win this game. |

Capitals:
I feel that Washington and LA were tremendously underrated going into the playoffs. Both had their share of problems, but LA had a coming out party vs. Vancouver, and I really think that Washington will beat their next opponent after getting through Boston. Caps have done a great job containing the big guns in Boston, and as good as Thomas is- Washington has the firepower to overcome that. This has been a great series, but I think Caps take it in G7.
Senators:
Maybe wishful thinking and a homer call, but I really feel that the Senators have been the better team this series. They've had great goaltending from Anderson, and have outmuscled the Rangers in every game. Game 6 was a massive disappointment for a lot of players, and I really believe there's going to be a huge bounce back from the veterans like Alfie, Spezz, and Anderson on Thursday night.
Devils:
As someone else mentioned- this one's a toss up, and easily the least interesting matchup of the entire playoffs. Whoever gets out of this round will get pumped in the next, but I think the Devils got fortunate when Theodore went down. All the respect in the world to Clemmensen- who has played well for the Panthers, but I think guys like Kovalchuk and Parise have a lot to prove.
IF this is the case, when was the last time that every series in the East was an upset? That's pretty wild when you think about it, and very possible. |
